Indonesia -- Land & Sea
On the second leg of our trip we flew to Jakarta and stayed at the Plataran Resort. This photo shows the Borobudur Temple taken from the Resort balcony.

While in Java we toured the beautifully-terraced rice fields. We arrived early to wait for sunrise.

We toured the countryside in 6 VW convertibles. Here we passed through another rice field and got out to stretch our legs.

The next morning we flew to Borneo and took a 2-hour boat ride to our lodge. This photo welcomes us to Tanjung Puting National Park, home of the orangutans.

We stayed 3 days at Rimba Lodge during which time we photographed orangutans (see separate gallery). Here we say goodbye to the river as we depart in early morning.
We flew from Borneo back to Jakarta and then on to Flores Island. There are 17,508 islands that comprise Indonesia.

Here's our ship that accommodated 10 guests in small, but adequate rooms. Our chef was a superb cook as we ate all three meals aboard.

We snorkeled to see the manta rays. These photos were taken by our guide who dove down without scuba equipment to shoot these photographs.
