Martens' Family to DC
The Martens' clan all descended on Washington D.C. for a fun couple of days seeing the highlights of our nation's capital. We toured Arlington Cemetery, went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Kennedy grave. Then we toured the National Mall, seeing the Washington and Lincoln Monuments. It was especially meaningful to visit the World War II Memorial and pay tribute to our dad, along with all the other soldiers, who fought in that war. We also saw the Vietnam Memorial and other tributes. The next day we had a fantastic tour of the Capital given to the family personally by Kansas Senator Moran's intern. We completed the day with a visit to Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington.
